That’s a lot of music

I’m watching Steve Jobs’ MacWorld keynote. I always tune in to these when I can. For anyone that needs to give presentations, particularly technology presentations, there’s lots to learn from Jobs. Granted, he’s preaching to the choir at these things and the audience is always buying what he’s selling.

An interesting tidbit from the presentation so far: the iTunes Music Store’s top customer to date has purchased $29,500 worth of tunes! That’s a lot of music.

Hello and Happy New Year! I had a chance to see your mom & pop on saturday at the farmers market. While I either speak with him or email him regularly, it is always great to see him live and unplugged! Everytime I see your mom she just seems to get prettier and prettier. They are great people your mom and dad.

Being a MAC freak myself(IMAC, IPOD,etc) I also watched Jobs keynote earlier today with great interest. I look forward to the day when we can purchase music from the IMUSIC Store here in Canada. Man they are a fabulous company. Seem to be always ahead of the curve. Not sure about the mini IPOD though. Why would you go for 1,000 songs at $249US when you can get the 15GB for $299US. Is this price point really that big of a difference?

I see from reading one of your earlier posts that you have an espresso machine. I received a SAECO Via Veneto for Xmas from my girlfriend and have been having a hell of a time. What do you use for beans? Where do you get them. I have been using Lavazza Qualiti Oro and do like them.

Any way man, I have been reading your blog for quite some time and thought I would make comment. Nice peice of work.

If you are ever free for a coffe or lunch, give me a ring. CIBC Wood Gundy in the book.

$29,500 in tunes. I wonder how many people have stolen that much through P2P?
I must say the GarageBand program is very intriguing to me. Anyone know a comparable pc product? (I know, I know, no pc compares to a Mac)

Thanks for the note and kind words.

Regarding coffee, nice machine. I’m coming to your place! Where do you get the Lavazza? I’d like to give it a try. I have been getting my coffee from Timothy’s downtown. They have an espresso bean/roast and I have them grind it (as I seem to go through it rather quickly). Gets me moving in the morning.

Regarding the iPod-mini, your observation about the $50/11GB delta is being echoed across the web this morning but I’m not so sure. I have a 30GB iPod and a 45GB music collection so I have to make choices about what lives on the iPod at any given time. I think for a lot of people 4GB/1000 songs should do it, especially if the tools and interface (FireWire/USB 2) allow you to update quickly and easily. The major upsides to the mini are size and possibly battery life. Finally, while it may or may not “compete” with real iPods, it will surely kick the crap out of anything from the likes of Rio, Creative, et al. I’ve used this stuff for years (e.g. original Creative Jukebox) and it still amazes me just how bad the products (including software) from these companies can be and still make it to market.

    Lunch sounds good. I’ll call.

Completely agree with you on GarageBand (just posted about it). Looks awesome! Makes me want a Mac again. Something similar on the PC? Dunno. My guess is there’s pro stuff out there but for way more money.

True enough about the Mini. GarageBand does sound pretty cool, Being someone who sings the odd summer festival and likes playing guitar.

On the Lavazza front. I picked up a couple of pounds from the Italian Gourmet in Halifax. What a great spot! Perhaps I’ll drop you off a little to try. I will give Timothy’s a try too.
